Going on excursions is something our troop greatly enjoys, although during quarantine we have not be able to step out for any outings. We were brainstorming on ways to have an outdoor experience while staying at our own homes. Finally, we came up with a plan. Some of our ideas for this outing included going on a five-mile hike, cooking meals, sleeping in a tent, and exercising! Eventually, these ideas resulted in our Virtual Outdoor Camping outing. Virtual Camping was held over the weekend of July 18 - July 19, and it turned out to be a very exciting experience for us all. The campout was structured similarly to a one-night trip and was made memorable with games, skits, s’mores, and more! We created an hourly-based schedule, which included waking up at 7:00 AM, something many of us had trouble doing but were able to accomplish.

Overall, the outing was a huge success and a fun way to experience a trip during COVID times. Cooking outdoors by ourselves (with parent supervision), we made delicious meals. In the morning, we all exercised together, which was refreshing and something we plan to add to our regular routines as well. “It was fun and I loved the concept of it”, was a testimonial from one of the members of our Troop. We look forward to planning and enjoying another virtual outing soon!
