The journey into the scouting began in Feb 2019, when Boy Scouts T199 informed me about the BSA accepting the girls into its programs. I had always been excited about adventures, and leadership stories from this scout group. Being a mother to daughter, who loves the outdoors, explorer and athletic, joining this group sounded like a great opportunity.

Our first introductory meeting was at local Round Table Pizza, where T199 scout master gave us an overview of the BSA, its mission, the commitment, activities, and values for scouts. We gleaned over guide book, which details the principles, core values, and how to be prepared for any adventure one take on. The Boy SM and ASM were very welcoming to support us leading a new scout group involving girls. They also invited us for their weekly meeting at Warm Springs school to meet and greet with scouts and leaders.

First meeting opened up new horizon about the scouting, it entailed the gathering in circle, flag opening, working on the merit enhancements, badge requirements and closing with announcements/news. I and a few other parents felt very motivated to create our troop. T199 committed their support and guidance to have combined meetings, outings and other volunteering events.

Being ScoutMaster

Now was the time to create history. Create a foundation for the first girls troop in Warm Springs Fremont area. For the troop to be chartered we pledged parent leaders for various positions. And I took up the uncharted territory of my own and signed up for Scoutmaster for our girls troop.

Hang in there.. Next blog coming soon where i would share my journey of learning the ropes of chartering a new Scout troop.
